In the beginning of high school, Sasha became transgender.. The family of Sasha was supportive during the rough times and Sasha knew that she was capable of doing anything through music. Jim and Sasha both are songwriters and were just recently forming an official band. Since then they've performed at various local events, such as open mics. While The Voice coaches did not discuss Sasha's backstory, he as well as Jim talked about their lives in an introductory clip played prior to their show. They discussed the music they enjoy and the way Sasha first picked up a guitar at the age of at the age of six. He was able to learn the form of music more quickly due to his father being an educator. Sasha was born a female and had a hard time finding his own identity while he was young. In a post on Instagram, she recently shared the struggles he faced. Jim was overcome with tears when he explained why the reason he was not a part of these trying times.
